A Monumental Shift from Reality

Last week’s Unite the Right rally gave a full display of two extremist sides of the political spectrum. As a result, one was left one dead and many injured, sparking a monumental outrage from the left towards America’s statues and monuments.

House Democrat leaders have called to remove many Civil War related monuments and statues all around the United States. Leftists have celebrated this as many statues and monuments have already been taken down. Some have even been taken down by force.

“No matter how you feel about Civil War history it seemed like a significant moment. One of those events that announced the end of one thing and a start of another. In this case, the destruction of America’s social fabric,” Tucker Carlson said. “Monuments and statues have been torn down in the past week without deliberation or public debate.”

As our 45th President of the United States stated in an odd press conference, “Is George Washington [coming down] next week? And, is it Thomas Jefferson the week after?”

Mr President may tweet nonsense here and then. President Trump may speak when it’s not needed. Albeit, his statements delivered at the Trump Tower were not wrong nor put together without any thought (contrary to what the media claimed).

CNN commentator Angela Rye let her emotions speak over her intelligence and demanded that George Washington and Thomas Jefferson statues be removed.

“American history is not all glorious… George Washington was a slave owner. We need to call slave owners out for what they are. Whether we think they were protecting American freedom or not, he wasn’t protecting my freedoms,” Rye said.

The hysteria of the media on the left has given us gaffes, like Vice titling their article, “Let’s blow up Mount Rushmore.”

Vice headline that says "Let's blow up Mount Rushmore"

Confederate flag ‘looking’ tiles were labeled racist and demanded to be removed from a Manhattan subway.

A USC black assembly student linked USC’s mascot, Traveler, as a white supremacist for having some type of similarity with Confederate leader Robert E. Lee.

A similar case—my favorite thus far of this political abomination—would be the removal of an Asian ESPN reporter, Robert Lee, who was going to cover a football game, but was excluded for “safety reasons.”

America’s past is full of both marvelous history and atrocious history. Be that as it may, triggered leftists (including leftist media) shouldn’t disavow the George Washingtons, the Alexander Hamiltons, or even the Robert E Lees of early America. These angry folk should conserve these symbols not dispose of them.

1984 is knocking on America’s door that which, “those who control the present, control the past and those who control the past control the future.”

Rewriting history will not solve present predicaments. Nor will removing monuments that offend whoever establish any sort of accomplishment.
